Hi All,
I am a complete newbie at this and getting pretty old to learn new tricks. I am here because I wanted to build a model ship using (mostly) 5mm plywood. I have a new Atomstack A20 Pro 20w Laser Machine to help with this and need to learn a lot of new stuff. I can have my images in jpg without any problem but I need them converted to SVG or DXF and this is why I am here. I can Import my JPG to QCad and then I have to trace this image and can then save it as I wish. I have a little problem with QCad continually moving my llocation spot from where I want it to some 'Grid' position. Can I turn this off ??. I am sorry I am a bit early here to start asking questions but I will have a look through the site to see if anyone else has asked.
As I said at the start I am from Glenrothes in Fife, Scotland and am happy to have found this site.

Hi, and welcome to the QCAD Forum.

You probably mean snapping to grid points with Auto Snap active.
Even when the Grid is not displayed.

There are two ways.
When QCAD requires a coordinate input it typically displays the Snap options at the left.
Or select a more appropriate snapping method other that 'Auto' before clicking some position.

Or rule out Grid points from Auto snapping.
See menu Edit .. Application Preferences .. Snap .. Auto Snap and un-tick 'Grid Points'.

Typically a question for the QCAD 'How Do I' Questions forum.
Remark that there is search box.
