Understanding G Code
If G-Code is generated from QCAD/CAM can it be used by other CAM software or is the G-Code produced by QCAD/CAM only compatible for use by QCAD/CAM?
For the best support please state your operating system, QCAD version and add any supporting DXF/DWG files, screenshots etc...
Re: Understanding G Code
G-Code is not something you would usually use to transfer data between different desktop software packages. G-Code is a standard to control computer controlled machines. So the G-Code file would be typically transferred to a machine which then processes it.
The G-Code produced by QCAD/CAM can be configured and adjusted in any way desirable (using ECMAScript). This is done through the files in directory "postprocessors". So far, only two simple postprocessors ("G-Code configurations" if you want) are included: GCode (G41/G42) and GCode (Offset). These postprocessors produce very basic G-Code which should work with most machines without major adjustments.
Perhaps you have an example G-Code that works with your particular machine. I could tell you more based on that.

Thanks Andrew, got it and understood.
No, machine is not in the workshop yet, soon thoughandrew wrote:Perhaps you have an example G-Code that works with your particular machine. I could tell you more based on that.
