Qcad Free Version for basics only.

Post by sswcharlie » Sun Jan 16, 2022 1:08 am

Hi
All I want is to do 2D drawings like the side of a train carriage with the windows etc. With dimensions and have a information block on the bottom rhs
Need the free version. Own use only.

Using Linux Mint17 on Toshiba laptop. 32 bit

Have downloaded this file into Mint

qcad-3.27.1.trial-linux-x86_32.run

is this the correct file for me ? and what is the Linux terminal code to open and install ?
What do I do to make it the free version? (with restricted options)

Thankyou
Charles Harris

Please download the trial version (which can be twitched to a free version) from this page:
https://www.qcad.org/de/qcad-downloads-trial

To make it a free version please follow this instruction:

Unfortunately I can't help you with the correct Linux version - I'm on Windows. But I'm sure somebody else will help you with that!

Just curios: Is that the same Train carriage project from your forum request in 2014?
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
Win10/64, QcadPro, QcadCam version: Current.

Yes Husky you are so correct,

In my part of the world (new Zealand) it is called 'old age' (77). Forgot clean about that. Changed laptops etc meantime etc.

I will now proceed to followup on my first post on this subject. lol

Hmmm, when I last checked (decades ago!) the "Land of the long white cloud" there wasn't such a thing like "old age". Probably I just forgot it ... LOL

I think that file should be correct for you.

to install, just make sure that under Permissions in the file Properties that Execute is checked, then simply double click on the file to install.

Hi Pete

Thanks for reply.

Have tried that and get nothing using display, and run, but with run from terminal it comes up briefly with 'checking archive integrity, then nothing.

I am checking with some Linux users as well.

Thankyou

Hi Husky

We are changing the name to 'Land of the shakey isles and booming sky'.

This reference to many earthquakes and now loud booms in the sky from the volcano explosion in Tonga Islands. And they are 2000 miles away.

lol
