Printer is not recognized by QCad in Slackware

Post by JohnCC330 » Wed Dec 10, 2025 11:59 am

On trying to print, my old and trusty HP laser printer is not listed in the printers. Here are my working conditions:

- Linux Slackware64 (more or less current)
- I'm currently experimenting with the i3 tiling window manager (i3 version 4.24 (2024-11-06)
- I''m using the appImage packaging of:
Version: 3.26.2.0 (3.26.2)
Internet: QCAD.org
Build Date: Sep 3 2025
Revision:
Qt Version: 5.15.17
Architecture: x86_64
Compiler: gcc 15.2.0
- There's not much I can screenshoot, nor does it seem to depend on any drawing file
- Tests:
- Print to PDF works fine.
- On the same system, printing with Firefox is Ok, and the printer is listed correctly
by cups 2.4.12, gimp, lpstat

I see no errors on the terminal nor during the use of QCad.
The only oddity is the long printer name:
$ lpstat -a
HP_LaserJet_1022_USB_FX002AB_HPLIP accepting requests...
