Removing the Trial Add-Ons

Post by andrew » Fri Jan 13, 2017 8:50 pm

If you choose to use the free QCAD Community Edition (without the features and tools of QCAD Professional and without DWG support), you can simply remove the trial add-ons from a download and installed QCAD Professional trial version:

Windows:
[QCAD installation folder]\plugins
qcaddwg.dll
qcadopengl3d.dll (QCAD/CAM only)
qcadpolygon.dll
qcadproscripts.dll
qcadtriangulation.dll
qcadcamscripts.dll (QCAD/CAM only)
Do NOT delete qcaddxf.dll or you won't be able to load or save any files.

macOS:
QCAD.app/Contents/PlugIns (Right-click on QCAD.app and click Show Package Contents)
libqcaddwg.dylib
libqcadopengl3d.dylib (QCAD/CAM only)
libqcadpolygon.dylib
libqcadproscripts.dylib
libqcadtriangulation.dylib
libqcadcamscripts.dylib (QCAD/CAM only)
Do NOT delete libqcaddxf.dylib or you won't be able to load or save any files.

Linux:
[QCAD installation directory]/plugins
libqcaddwg.so
libqcadopengl3d.so (QCAD/CAM only)
libqcadpolygon.so
libqcadproscripts.so
libqcadtriangulation.so
libqcadcamscripts.so (QCAD/CAM only)
Do NOT delete libqcaddxf.so or you won't be able to load or save any files.

Sorry for the basic question Andrew. But how do I "simply remove the add-ons" please?

The original post by Andrew shows what files to delete from the plugins folder (in your QCAD installation folder). You didn't indicate what operating system you're running, since they'll be in different places. I'm on Xubuntu Linux and installed it under /opt/QCAD, so I deleted (initially just moved) the indicated files from /opt/QCAD/plugins. On Windows, the 64-bit version installs into C:\Program Files\QCAD, so they would be in C:\Program Files\QCAD\plugins. I'm not a Mac user but he's indicated a path.

Be sure to exit QCAD before deleting or moving the files, then when you restart you'll be running the Community Edition.

Thanks for the reply.
Apologies for not indicating my operating system. I am using Linux Mint 17.3 KDE.
I found the files in my home folder here: home/opt/qcad-d.19.2-trial-linux-x86_64

I will move the files concerned to my trash folder before deleting later.
If it works, I will come back and report problem solved.

Edit: Problem solved, thanks again.
