[solved] Lost files..........again.

Some years ago, I stopped using LibreCad due to files either being inaccessible or totally lost.
Then i began to use the superior Qcad, hoping that I would not experience the same problem.
I have been accessing and using the file of a drawing multiple times without any problems, that is, until today. When I went to access the file, I received the notification as shown in the screenshot.
What is going on? Can someone please assist and help me to recover my files?
Or at least, explain a process that I can follow to avoid history repeating itself again in this way?

Hi Jim0000,

that looks not like a QCAD Problem. The file isn't in the expected location which means the file is deleted or moved.

Questions:
Which OS are you on?
Crashed QCAD or the OS before that happened?
Why is that an "Import" message and not an "Open" message?
Is the file in the recycling bin?
Have you searched your system for that file with a Search tool? Maybe it's moved by accident.

I would strongly advise against using special characters in file names (such as #, /, \, *, ...).

- Have a look if that file is actually in folder "My Drawings".
If so, rename it and remove the #
If not, the problem is not related to QCAD at all but a file management issue (accidentally moved, deleted, saved in a different place, etc.)

Thanks for the reply Andrew. I recognise that the problem is not directly a QCAD one. However, I thought this would be the first place to ask for assistance.
Answers to above questions:
1. My operating system is Linux Mint 17.3 64 bit.
2. No crashes of Qcad or my operating system.
3. The files are not in the trash (recycle bin).
4. Searched for the files - non found.

They appear to have just disappeared!

Again, I'd strongly advise to not use "#" in file names. This could cause all kinds of problems in many applications, including the file manager.

Advise accepted, thanks Andrew.
When, and if, I find the files, I will change the name. And for future files I will omit hash tags and such in the name.
I don't know what to do with this thread now.
It is not solved, but now not a problem that this forum can assist further with.
Shall I mark it as solved?
Even though it is not?

I'm 99% sure this is all due to # and a misbehaving application or file system (not QCAD). Marked as solved.

Thanks again Andrew. Sorry to bother you with this.
Back to the drawing board for me!
