Limiti disegno

Post by Doriano » Mon Feb 08, 2021 10:58 am

Buongiorno.

https://qcad.org/it/tutorial-printing

https://qcad.org/it/tutorial-working-wi ... -viewports (attualmente solo in inglese)

QCAD has at least two solution to your goal. 1. is already mentioned by Andrew. "Print current view". 2. one would be to move the paper area with a fixed scale.
Both solution lack information from you:
1. The scale. Does the scale matter? If you chose a scale like 1:7.5 it's easy to move the paper but it will not fit your delimited area.
2. your delimited area doesn't match a scaled A4 paper format what means to cover the area the scale is random and off.
So, the question is what matters to you?

Re: Limiti disegno

Buongiorno Husky.
Grazie

(Sorry fo my bad English)
Good morning Husky. I need that the various sections (areas or boxes normally equal to each other) of a general drawing, which includes for example 10-15-20 boxes (where in each of them there is at least one design element) can be printed individually , and all with the same scale (regardless if the output is on A4-3-2-1-0 sheets). Making "print current view", framing one of these areas on the monitor, will almost never respect the scale, as even 2-3 millimeters of difference between the various screens are enough and the various prints will not respect the proportions between them.
Certainly the solution of creating "blocks" of the various areas / boxes to be printed should solve the problem, but this becomes very laborious when these areas / boxes are many in a single drawing (and I think you enlarge the file as you create copies of each single selected part). I need to make drawings with many views / developments of the basic design, such as when drawing a complex building, where the floor plans (even of several different floors), the views from the various sides, several sections, the perspectives and more (on average 15-20 areas / panels). The possibility of selecting one or more areas / sections to be printed, with Autocad or DraftSight (but I think also with other CADs) is extremely simple, as you "select" from the general drawing, with the mouse, the box to be printed and then that's it send it to the printing device (where you can further enter parameters for printing). I hope I have explained the problem well. Thank you

I think this is worth to think about it as a new printing option for QCAD too. Maybe you like to put in a feature request below www.qcad.org/bugtracker

How I would try to solve that task with the current QCAD tools? Kind of a workaround ...

Model_Space preparing:
I delimited areas with rectangles regarding to the paper size and scale. My paper size is A4, the scale should be 1:7.5. Regarding to that the delimited areas have a A4 size scaled 7.5 times to match the scale.

Next step is launch "Print Preview", chose the options (1:7.5, A4),
launch "Move Paper Position" in the "Print Preview" option bar,
Note: QCAD will only print the Paper area represented by a solid white rectangle which represents the chosen Paper size.
Move the Paper to the dedicated area,
Print to paper or pdf.
Note: QCAD will remember the last chosen settings even after saving and reloading the drawing. Very convenient!

Note: This workaround is meant to avoid a labor intensive block setup which could work better in the long run. But a block setup makes only sense in the case that you create new drawings like this one on a daily base ...

Would this workaround help you to solve the task?

Thanks Husky. The method you mentioned might be fine, but it seems a bit complex to me. I attach screenshot of how to print with Autocad and / or DraftShigt. These examples run with Autodesk DWG TrueView (free software). 1) the file opens (Screenshot 12) - 2) Selecting the graph (Screenshot 13) - 3) Selecting the parameters (Screenshot 14). In this example the parameters have been selected: Printer / plotter / Paper size / Print area / Center the graph / Fit to paper / Drawing orientation and then OK. Printing is done on an A4 sheet. If you also select "Save layout changes" for subsequent drawings, simply select a different area (the Windows parameter is already selected) to print and then OK. Very quick and easy.

We move in a circle because you changed the specifications to compare the programs. On this way there will never be a clear solution!

But it accomplished all your requirements contrary to your solution!

Your mentioned the requirement that you have to print with a certain scale. Your "TrueView" setting "Fit to paper" will use a random uncontrolled scale for the user regarding to the print situation. That is something what can be done in QCAD too .... Andrew suggested that already.

Select what has to be printed, "Zoom to selection", launch "Print current View" print and done ....

Husky, thank you. The method you indicated is really "quick and easy", but it's not accurate if you have to print the whole window. This is due to the fact that it is not possible to select exactly the entire window (which I always delimit in the standard A4 or 3/2/1/0 format) as the edges of the window are not "hoocked". And this means that the various selections are never the same and in the print sheet (A4 / 3/2/1/0) the elements drawn in turn are never exactly proportioned to the printouts of other windows. If it were possible to "hook" the boundaries of a window it would be a very good solution.

Husky, grazie.

Sorry Husky, in my menu there is no "Print current view" icon, only "Print preview" (The whole toolbar is active)
