DXF importing

Post by bvd4 » Mon Jun 06, 2016 9:05 am

Version:
3.15.2.0 (3.15.2)
Internet:
QCAD.org
Build Date:
May 30 2016
Revision:
dd761bc
Qt Version:
5.5.1
Architecture:
x86_64
Compiler:
MSVC++ 12.0 (2013)

I am new to Qcad and am having a problem importing a DXF file
I can load the file but 1 of the profiles is missing
If I load the same file in Turbocad all the profiles are there
Any suggestions

Bill

Thanks for your report.

For all support requests, please:
- indicate the QCAD Edition you are using (QCAD Professional, QCAD Trial-Version, QCAD Community Edition)
- attach original drawing files (DXF, DWG, ...) if appropriate
- if there is an error message, indicate the exact message

Please be as specific as possible in describing your problem, so we can help you efficiently. Thanks.

I have attached the problem file
You will see a number of profiles on the bottom left corner you will see the letter D there should be a rectangular shape around this letter

This rectangle is of type "Face" which is not commonly used in 2D drawings. I can confirm that this entity type is currently not supported in QCAD. The other contours are polylines.
Basic support for this entity type will likely be added for the next release of QCAD.

I have just loaded the problem file into Turbocad and drawn around the part that is a problem using a normal line command on a new layer
I then deleted the rectangle that was not being shown and saved the file
If I then try and import this modified file into Qcad everything works correctly
I have another question for you
At present I am using Windows 10 and am not very happy with it
At some stage I intend to change to an Apple Mac
If I buy QcAD for windows now and then change to a Mac at a latter date do I have to buy a new version of Qcad ?
When will the next version of QCAD be released ??
Thanks for your help
Bill

No. You can switch operating systems at any time and also use the same QCAD Professional license on multiple computers with multiple operating systems as long as you are the only user. In your download area you can find packages for all supported platforms.

We usually issue a new release about every month.
