How do I extend line and keep the same angle?
I'm using QCAD Pro 3.25.0 and attempting to make a drawing of a house. Please have a look at the attached image.
What is the best way to extend the line in the same direction as the red arrow is pointing at? This is the eaves of the roof and I would need to make it exactly 625 mm long and it should be exactly the same angle as the roof of the house is.

Re: How do I extend line and keep the same angle?
As always, there are several ways to achieve that.
Since you know the desired total length, I'd use the property editor to set the length of the line:
- View > Property Editor
- Click the line to select it
- Change the "Length" property to "625"
Depending on the start / end point of the line, the line might be extended at the wrong end (at the top). In that case, simply drag and drop the line into place using the top end as reference or Edit > Cut with Reference and Edit > Paste, again using the top end as reference.

Thank you, this was good information.
I just also found out, that the "Relative Angle" tool could also be used.

If the start and end of your line is such that changing length is at the wrong end you could select your line and reverse it.

Modify / Reverse
Command:

Re: How do I extend line and keep the same angle?
Yes, but that will create another line rather than extending.
I tried to move an endpoint. Left click the endpoint of line and drag somewhere. Unclick. Then spacebar to command line. Asks for Target point of reference point. I want to extend, say 10 units in same angle: so I type @10<0 expecting the angle (0 in this case) to be relative to the angle of the original line. Actually, the 0 angle is absolute, not relative to the original angle, however the 10 units is relative from the original reference point. ????

Bottom line:
Take care the line points in the direction one wants with RV.
Then edit the length property what is an RMathLineEdit and can include math.
Most property entry fields are.
'x.xxxxx + 100' will extend the line 100 in the direction looking from start- to endpoint.

In the past, working on a drawing board, you would have made an auxiliary circle from the top of the roof and then extend the edge of the roof to the point of intersection with the circle (hold the SHIFT key in QCAD). The auxiliary circle is then deleted again. Simple geometry that always works.

Funny, I was looking at the neighbors cat as it was doing it's business on my property... wondering what I could use it's fur for.... so, so many things.
