Logitec MX Master 3 for Mac and QCAD

Post by Circle » Thu Jun 22, 2023 1:37 pm

I use the Logitec MX Master 3 for Mac and have installed the Logi Options + software.

Theoretically, I can customize the buttons for QCAD. The only one I want to customize is the Wheel Button to control the zooming in and out. I use this on my other CAD programs. Unfortunately, I cannot get it to work properly with QCAD. There is a delay in the zooming of the window. And then by the time it starts to zoom (either in or out) I have moved the button too many times and the window is now locked into a journey of either zooming in or out and I just have to wait patiently for it to stop.

This is a real show stopper as I like to use the mouse for navigating around CAD windows. I hope that it may just be a setting, that I have not tuned up.

Many thanks.

MAC Ventura 13.4.1
QCAD 3.28.1.0 (3.28.1)

There is a delay in the zooming of the window.
What size of drawing file?
Does it have the same delay when using the +/- keys?
Are there so called 'massive blocks'?
Zoom in/out on a (highlighted) viewport in a layout block?
Selectable hatch entities or hatches with many details or at a very small scale?

In the above cases there can be a delay while QCAD renders the new screen update.
For some there are work around methods.

The Drawing Size is 368 KB.
Talking about the number keyboard - I cannot get it to work with QCAD? It works with Blender and Form Z but not QCAD? How do I activate it.

The only block is Layout1 (paper space)

Thanks for your help!

Did you test different mouse settings below Application Preferences / Graphics View / Navigation?
Work smart, not hard: QCad Pro
QcadPro, QcadCam, Win11/64, 64GB RAM, 10-Core, SSD

Yes, I played around with the Navigation adjustments.
Changed the zoom factor to 1.06. If I go higher things just get worse.

The +/- keys are standard shortcuts for zoom in/out.
But that might be different on a Mac:

In the format DXF or DWG?
The best way to help you would be with a drawing example.

Odd, the mouse wheel zoom factor itself should not cause more or less delay.

Without a drawing that causes such delays I am out of options.
