Revision Cloud Tool
If you've had the need to use a revision cloud, adding this tool would be key.

Re: Revision Cloud Tool
Looked up Revision Cloud.
https://www.constructionknowledge.net/blog/?p=3742
You can imagine I am coding FlexPainter clouds.
These will not self-intersect...
Correction: I see, can't be avoided totally on any base
Anyone a good source for 'billows'?

Re: Revision Cloud Tool
Since I started this topic...you can be assured that I'm voting for this one!
One CAN fake it a couple of ways...a series of arcs (use a couple of radii and it looks okay) and I've done it with a polyline around the revision and "pull" the center of segments to make them more cloud like.
But a tool would be best.

Re: Revision Cloud Tool
Revision cloud would be good. But just say'in I moved to color for architectural revisions a while back and the local jurisdiction has accepted the plans without a word.

Re: Revision Cloud Tool
Hi,
Using color coding for revisions on plans is something totally up to you.
One can always print and present them in Black/White when that is an issue.
Revision clouds are simply line-art that is drawn around text or geometry to highlight the area of interest.
It is common to use something that looks like the way we would draw a cloud.
Adding a new type of CAD entity was and is still beyond my expertise.
While Linetype coding supports polyline art these days it doesn't support bulging what is required for cloud shapes.
Using shapes defined in CXF fonts for Linetype coding has the same or similar limitations.
The solution I came up with is coding cloud shaped painters for FlexPainter (FP).
See them as a roller stamp that follows a given path.
Example here: https://qcad.org/rsforum/viewtopic.php? ... 122#p25122
Base path = red, painter art = black.
You don't need to install anything extra, FlexPainter is included in a standard QCAD release and functional for Pro users.
It will superimpose (or replace) the selected painter art over for example an ellipse but besides that it supports most basic entity types.
The general advice is to use a well rounded base shape, to avoid hard corners where even a roller stamp would smudge.
FP requires a selection, draw and select the auxiliary base shape(s) for the intended path(s) to follow.
Practice a bit with the tool settings to get the required art, it is not rocket science.
One can always revert back with Undo (OO).
As included FP is still in beta phase, it is not a finished product ... yet.

Re: Revision Cloud Tool
I tried flexpainter revision clouds and had real trouble getting them to scale to my drawing sizes.
Eventually I just created a FP cloud elsewhere, and sized it to my need.

Re: Revision Cloud Tool
Hi,
The 'Cloud' pattern and all other are drawn over a base shape.
Already ensure for a base shape that encircles the intended area.
Use a single closed based shape: Rectangle, Ellipse, Polyline or Spline.
BTW ... Flexpainter should not run on CE and you just posted a question in the CE forum.
The patterns have a predefined length like Linetypes and have a 9-based height like a text height.
When the generated pattern is too coarse then undo and retry with a smaller Width.
When too dense, increase the Width.
Besides that you can deviate from the standard aspect ratio.
All very similar as setting a lineType scale factor, a Text Height or text X Scale.
The difference is that it are not properties that you can adapt afterwards.
It is a hit and run tool that draws over the selected base shape(s).
Also note that it is the only QCAD tool that will adapt former used options to the current drawing unit.
Perhaps you could share a detail and tell me what the required goal should be.
