I am using Linux Version 3.4.5 of QCAD.
I just experienced the same problem with "Break out Segment".
I drew two circles and then lines from A to B to C to D. (see first screenshot)
All on the same layer. One circle is coloured in green to make it easier to see the problem.
When I wanted to break out the segment of the green circle, which is outside of line BC, the result can be seen in the second screenshot.
